Fitness Centre Improvements and Altered Services

UWA Sport is making key improvements to the Fitness Centre based on customer feedback to enhance your experience at the gym. We will be undertaking a series of works between Monday 1 February - Sunday 7 February (inclusive).

The scope of works, which includes a major change in flow, updating of some floor coverings, change in equipment locations, minor construction and more, means there will be some alterations to services for this period. Please read on for more details:

Membership fees over this period

  • UWA Sport has applied a complimentary 1-week extension to all memberships to cover for this period. There is no need to contact the Fitness Centre to apply this, the team will automatically process this for you.

Main Gym Floor (weights floor, weightlifting room, and downstairs cardio)

  • No access to the main gym floor during this period

  • Alternate services will include a variety of outdoor group training sessions held between 6am - 8am and 5pm - 7pm (Monday to Friday)

  • Complimentary access to public swimming at our Aquatic Centre

Group Fitness Classes (held in the main studio and RPM studio)

  • Group fitness classes will run as normal during this period

Group Fitness Classes (Jumpstart and Ultrafit)

  • Gym floor classes will run as currently scheduled

  • An alternative location will be provided

Personal Training 

  • Personal Training sessions will be delivered as normal

  • An alternative location will be provided

Fitness Circuits 

  • Keep fit across the week with our fitness circuits! Monday to Friday UWA trainers will be running drop in circuit sessions.

  • 6am-8am: Circuits

  • 7am: UWA Run Club (30 minute sessions)

  • 5pm-7pm: Circuits

 

Frequently Asked Questions

+ How can I stay fit and active during this period?

Our trainers will be delivering a variety of additional and complimentary group training sessions during this period that will focus on different styles of training. Members with gym only memberships will also be able to attend any group fitness classes during this period free of charge.

We will also be providing you free access to our Aquatic Centre during public swimming times for this period. Public swimming times are Monday–Friday 6am–8.30am, 11.30am–2pm, amd 6.30pm-8.30pm. Saturday–Sunday 12pm–2pm.

+ Will I have to pay to join group training?

All group training sessions will be provided free to UWA Fitness members, regardless of their membership type (i.e members with gym only memberships will be permitted to attend any group fitness classes during this period).

+ Will I still have to scan in to join sessions?

Members are required to scan in as usual, and our friendly customer service team will advise the location of the group training session.

+ How do I access RPM classes?

RPM participants can still access the studio via the stairs to the squash courts, but there will be no access via the gym floor.

+ Will I still be able to train with my PT?

Personal training clients are able to scan in as normal and your trainer will meet you at the foyer area.
