It was an action-packed return for many athletes who took part in the WA State Cross Country Championships held during August.

For the first time in the event’s history the race took part at the iconic Kings Park, with elite athletes tracking to the track alongside a range of new participation initiatives.

It was student athlete Ben Chamberlain who took 10km Open Men’s title, pipping training partner William Chebor in the final stages of the race.

Ben’s win continues a strong run of form through 2019-20, which saw him win the 12km City2Surf and Perth Half Marathon Championship.

UWA Sport staff member Brittany More finished third in the women’s race, with World Championships Marathon representative Rochelle Rogers taking gold.
